October 16 Adding a new URLHere's a quick tip: You can add any URL to your search lists--even if it has not been crawled and indexed yet by Live.com. (U Rank uses Live.com on the backend for its search results). Here's how you do that:
1. Type the URL that you want to add (e.g., http://research.microsoft.com/projects/urank/ ) into the “Add an item” box on the right and click the magnifying glass icon. U Rank will detect that this is a URL and give you the option of creating a new entry (in addition to returning any relevant search results):
2. Click on the chevron and you’ll see a form to fill in with title and description: 3. Once you've filled in the form, click the + button and then drag the new entry to your search result list.
October 10 Thanks for checking out U RankThanks very much for checking out U Rank. If you've found this blog, there's a good chance you've already seen the U Rank project page, and our prototype of U Rank. If you haven't, well, go take a look.
U Rank is a research project to help us learn more about how people organize search results as they go about larger information tasks, how people collaboratively search, and generally, how people edit and share searches. We believe that finding something on the web is only the first step for many tasks. To better support people as they are exploring a topic, comparing information, keeping track of what they're learning, and collaborating with others, U Rank has general support for organizing, annotating, remembering, and sharing search results. We are very interested in your feedback.
On this blog, we'll be presenting scenarios and features, announcing updates and changes to U Rank, and answering your questions.
This is just a first post to the blog, but I did want to take a minute to quickly highlight some of the features of U Rank.
Thanks again for checking out U Rank. We'll be posting more here soon.
